History
The Department of Business Administration is subordinate to the College of Management which was founded in August 1997 when Shih Hsin College was upgraded into a university. In 2005 the Department of Business Administration was initiated by Professor Shu Mu-Lan the dean of College of Management and then Professor Lai Song-Zhong was appointed as the first Chairperson of the Department on August 1st 2005. The Department not only offers four-year undergraduate program but also develops master program for both postgraduate and executive professionals. So far the Department has 200 students in undergraduate program and about 80 students in master program. The Department has sought to grow stronger over the subsequent years in physical facilities teaching activities and research performance. Currently there are fourteen faculty members including three professors six associate professors and five assistant professors all of whom possess doctorate degrees and substantive academic and work experiences. Besides several specialists have been invited to be part-time faculty allowing us to offer students core and intensive curriculum plans with the assistance of these supporting teachers. Academic accomplishments in our Department have been elevated through interaction among full-time and part-time teachers with a broad spectrum of guidance. By doing so the Department can offer students not only enriching their studies but further planning their lives and careers for the future. For sustainable development the Department will continue investing more resources and manpower so as to enhance current administrative capability and research output.
Mission
The mission of the College of Management is to cultivate eminent management professionals in the age of a knowledge-based economy by offering students with international and local management knowledge and practice. This mission stems from our school’s motto – master virtue and wisdom; practice hands and mind. Our highly-structured education is designed for training students to do well in society and business and for encompassing broad prospects and righteous dispositions as they capitalize on sound theories and practices. In line with the mission a new smart premise for the College of Management was initiated in 2006 aiming at accomplishing its investment in education for management. Students and faculty members of the College may enjoy integrated facilities and resources in a whole way to advance teaching learning and studying.
Awards
Distinguished education will always remain an intention of the School and the College in addition to premium modern facilities. Our solid efforts to date have merited recognition by winning ten times Excellent Teaching Awards from the Ministry of Education begun in 2005 till now. The special recognition and collective incentive attracts more investments in various departments in the College. Our Department will continue to review our teaching levels and search for the best assets to upgrade curriculum and instruction activities and facilities in joint with distinguished teachers’ social networks abundant educational resources and beneficial location.
